Ornos Beach

We start with one of the trendiest beaches that blends good size (around 300 meters in length) with well-developed infrastructure (including sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports, restaurants and bars). Conveniently located only 3 km from Mykonos Town, Ornos Beach—especially its southern part—attracts families with kids as it is nicely shallow and features a soft, sandy bottom. Another plus is that Ornos Beach is on a windy part of the island but it’s sheltered, so a pleasant breeze will help cool down the heat. A mere 5-minute walk (500 meters) from Ornos Beach will bring you to the neighboring but distinctly different Korfos Beach, which is widely popular among windsurfers and kite enthusiasts due to its stronger windiness.

Psarou Beach

Another gorgeous beach in a well-sheltered bay but with a more glamorous touch – Psarou. A bit smaller (200 meters in length), but well-organized, featuring turquoise water and golden sand. Psarou is located between alredy mentioned Ornos beach and the next in our list -– Platis Gialos beach. It is great for swimming as the depth in the whole bay doesn’t exceed 8-10 meters. Considered one of the most exclusive beaches in Mykonos, it is especially beloved by wealthy travelers, party lovers, and celebrities. Here you may find beach clubs, music, parties, and lots of yachts of different sizes that occupy the bay during the summer. Hence, it may be pricier. Still, some parts of Psarou Beach are calmer and may be perfect for families with kids.

Platis Gialos Beach

Platis Gialos is lively but not a party beach, boasting a considerable length (280 meters), a clean shore, and various amenities at hand. Compared to Psarou, it offers a more serene atmosphere and a local vibe with a focus on Greek restaurants and tavernas. For those seeking active leisure, there are plenty of water sports activities available, such as jet-skiing or flyboarding. Additionally, Platis Gialos is conveniently situated near several other beaches (Paraga, Paradise, Psarou), making it an ideal spot for those who prefer to explore multiple locations.

Paraga Beach

Paraga Beach, sometimes spelled “Paranga” or “Panangka,” is the southernmost beach of the island and exudes a boho chic vibe. It is actually a combination of two smaller sandy beaches connected into one. Though not very big (about 220 meters), it perfectly captures the heart and soul of Mykonos. The southern part of Paraga Beach is calmer and perfect for relaxation, while the northern part is more lively. The water is crystal clear, and great for swimming, though you should watch out for rocks along the shore. Despite limited privacy, nude sunbathing is relatively common here. Behind the beach, you’ll find two bars, SantAnna and Kalua, both extremely popular with visitors. However, nothing compares to Scorpios Mykonos, which sprawls over the rocks on the right side of the beach.

Paradise Beach

One of the most iconic and popular in Mykonos – Paradise beach. Favoured by hippies in the 1960-70s due it’s beauty, Paradise beach became a legendary party spot over the decades. It enjoys golden sand, crystal waters and good length (350 meters). Plenty of sunloungers at reasonable rate, a variety of beach restaurants and bars, parties in the famous Paradise Beach Club and overall hedonistic vibe make it really demanded in summer. However, it has become quiter comparing to early days and some parts of the beach suit perfectly to swim with kids or read a book.

Super Paradise Beach

Super Paradise Beach, located in the neighboring bay to Paradise Beach, is a bit smaller at 200 meters but boasts a great water entrance perfect for snorkeling, with depths of 5-6 meters extending up to 60 meters from shore. The beach is vibrant and features two famous spots: on the right-hand side, the popular Jackie O’ Beach Club & Restaurant attracts the gay community, while the left-hand side, with Super Paradise Beach Club, is popular with the straight crowd. The clear waters and “party” atmosphere (with the music volume raised in the afternoon) make it a must-visit destination in Mykonos.

Elia Beach

Elia Beach is the longest sandy beach on Mykonos, stretching 540 meters and often considered the most beautiful. Split into sections, one side offers loungers, cabanas, and sun umbrellas for rent, while the other, a favorite for nude sunbathers, requires you to bring your own towel. Unlike the lively scenes at Paradise and Super Paradise, Elia has a calmer ambiance. The beach features several bars and restaurants perfectly placed for stunning sea views. Watersports such as parasailing, waterskiing, and wakeboarding are available, along with half or full-day boat charters. The crystal-clear waters, reaching depths of 10 meters, offer excellent visibility and a safe, sandy seabed, making it feel like a massive natural swimming pool.

Agios Sostis Beach

Agios Sostis Beach is located in the northern part of Mykonos, so you’ll need to hire a car to reach it. The adventurous journey is worth it, as Agios Sostis lies away from the center, remaining unspoiled and mostly uncrowded. Agios Sostis offers nothing but golden sand and crystal-clear blue water—no parasols, sunbeds, bars, or restaurants, except for one charming tavern popular among locals. Tucked away in a cove, it’s a favorite spot for the nudist community. With no nearby facilities, you won’t find organized water sports centers or rental equipment, so come prepared. However, thrill-seekers can enjoy special spots for cliff diving.

Lia Beach

Despite being 13 km from Mykonos Town, Lia Beach is a must-visit and even ranks among Greece’s best beaches. Located in the southeastern part and once bein a hidden gem, Lia now hums with chill-out beats, offering delicious food and cocktails. Sunbeds are available for those who prefer not to lie on the pebbly sand. The beach is cozy (150 meters long), sheltered from the wind, and surrounded by stunning rocky hills. Its crystal-clear water is perfect for snorkeling and is the island’s top spot for scuba diving. Worth noting, Lia Beach is not a nude-friendly beach.

Kapari Beach

Kapari Beach is a small, sheltered cove offering one of the most peaceful experiences in Mykonos.
