Accommodation at PRI 0293 is divided over the castle itself and two guesthouses accessed from the pool gardens. The main entrance to the castle leads into an amazing hallway. At the bottom of a few steps, you can choose from three options: straight on, left or right. Straight on leads out into the generous, walled courtyard garden. A left turn, meanwhile, leads to a series of wonderfully furnished living rooms, each with its large glass doors opening onto the courtyard garden. Two of them feature big decorative fireplaces, while the last is set in the oldest part of the castle, the former chapel.
Back in the hallway and heading right, you will enter a large dining room, which in turn leads to one more living area and a TV room. Off the TV room is a guest bathroom and the spacious, superbly equipped kitchen. Glass doors connect the kitchen to the internal courtyard and the main outdoor dining area.
A door from the kitchen leads into a long corridor, off which is a laundry room and a double-twin bedroom (160/80 × 190) with en-suite shower room. At the end of this corridor is an indoor-outdoor hallway connecting the courtyard garden to the main gardens and the pool area. Also accessed from this hall is the second of the main house's bedrooms, a double (170 × 200) with en-suite shower room.
Back in the TV room next to the kitchen, a staircase leads to the first level and the main sleeping area, including: a twin bedroom (120 × 190) with en-suite bathroom; a large double bedroom (170 × 190) with en-suite bathroom with separate shower and tub; the master bedroom (170 × 190) with walk-in wardrobe, and a generous bathroom with separate shower and tub. All three of these bedrooms overlook the courtyard garden.
The first guesthouse boasts cozy, wonderfully furnished accommodation situated just a few steps across the pool garden from the castle. It includes a charming open-plan living and dining area with kitchenette, and 4 large bedrooms: two doubles (170 × 190) and two double-twins (160/80 × 190), each with its own en-suite shower room.
The second guesthouse, also accessed from the pool garden, offers two double-twin bedrooms (160/80 × 190), one with an en-suite shower room, the other with an adjacent shower room.
PRI 0293 boasts generous grounds essentially divided into two parts. The first is the spacious courtyard garden, featuring a long shaded loggia furnished with sofas, easy chairs and a dining table facing a lawned quad. Most of the ground level rooms open out onto this area, including the kitchen.
The main garden and pool area are accessed from a corridor off the kitchen. Here there is a wide lawn, dotted with a variety of Mediterranean trees. There is plenty of space for fun and games, including the big pool, which is completed by a pool house featuring a shaded lounge and dining area, a kitchenette, and a changing room with shower and WC. A short walk across the lawns takes one to the guesthouse, which offers its own furnished terraces.
PRI 0293 is located just outside the centre of the lovely town of Tricase, whose baroque centre, restaurants, shops and bars (including Farmacia Balboa, a bar that is part-owned by Taylor Hackford, Oscar-winning film director and husband of Helen Mirren) are just an easy walking distance away.
The Adriatic coast is just a quick drive away and within 10-30 minutes' drive one can be at Tricase Porto, Il Ciolo (a deep rocky inlet that's great for swimming), Marina di Novaglie (home to one of Puglia's best seafront fish restaurants), Santa Maria di Leuca and the sandy beaches of the Ionian coast.
A 45-minute drive up the picturesque coast road will take you to fantastic Otranto with its castle, beach and historic centre. Enchanting Baroque Lecce, meanwhile, is just a 50-minutes drive away and the fortified island town of Gallipoli is even closer.
