When viewed from the sea below, this new, stylish villa's elegant, elliptical forms and gracefully curvaceous lines seamlessly merge with the emerald hillside on which it is nestled. Native flora disguises its roofs, further concealing its presence and demonstrating its indissoluble bond with the surrounding landscape. The property may seem simple and unpretentious, but it is also an outstanding masterpiece of modern architecture.
The main entrance opens into a generous and cozy hallway whose large picture window overlooks a lemon tree at one end of a secluded terrace. On the right is a guest WC. Going straight ahead, you enter a generously sized, bright, and charmingly panoramic space. It boasts fully retractable sliding glass walls on both sides, allowing guests to enjoy a seamless indoor-outdoor living. The views over Desimi beach, the shining bay, and the neighbouring island of Meganissi are absolutely amazing.
The space is carefully divided into two parts by a partial wall. The first part of this wonderful space is dedicated to a stylish, cutting-edge kitchen with a large, marble-topped island bar and a wall of white cabinetry and appliances. The second part houses a wooden dining table, a long modern sofa, several designer armchairs, and a discreetly set fireplace. The floor is made of snow-white marble from the island of Thassos in an elegant mosaic design (a detail that is present throughout the house and on the terraces).
From the hallway, stairs lead up to the first level, which is set back into the hillside and divided from the ground level by a secluded courtyard terrace. A spacious landing has fully retractable sliding glass doors leading onto a sea-view terrace, while glass doors on the opposite side reveal a part of the mountain out of which the upper level has been carved.
There are three double bedrooms (2 beds × 180 × 200 cm and 1 bed × 160 × 200 cm), each featuring fully retractable sliding glass doors, exceptional sea views, access to a long shady terrace, and flawlessly finished en-suite bathrooms (two with showers, one with a curvaceous stone bathtub).
The final bedroom is located below the entrance to the main house and is entered externally from its own terrace. The bedroom features a double bed (160 × 200 cm), a kitchen corner, and an en-suite shower room with a skylight and a shower window overlooking the sea.
The architectural creativity of the villa is perhaps best appreciated from the outdoor areas. An openwork spiral-shaped pergola around it creates shade while allowing you to admire the azure sky and emerald hills. The roof is covered with a carpet of local flora and curves around a panoramic sun terrace with built-in seating, which can be accessed via a bridge-walkway from the terrace off the bedrooms on the second level. From here, there is a stunning view of the surrounding area — from the bay and the golden beach of Desimi to the sparkling waters of the neighbouring island of Meganissi and beyond.
The open-plan communal space on the ground level boasts fully retractable sliding glass walls on two sides. On the sea-view side of the house is a long and wonderfully furnished terrace, which runs round one side of the house, leading to a shaded al fresco dining area. It further continues to a secluded courtyard area. From here, steps lead up to the terrace outside the first-level bedrooms.
The path beyond the outdoor dining area leads to the fantastic infinity pool (14 × 4 v), whose smooth, rounded edges create a graceful, elongated teardrop form. A shallow, beach-effect section is ideal for cooling off.
The villa is nestled on the side of a hill above peaceful Desimi Bay, along the east coast of Lefkada. Desimi beach, with its soft pebbles, crystalline waters, boat hire and tavernas, is just a 10-minute walk away from the bottom of the drive. Apart from Desimi, there are many other beaches nearby, including those at Alonaki, Kamari, and Mikros Gialos.
You can easily explore the island of Lefkada in a week, as it is 35km long and 15km wide, and there is a lot to see and do. The azure, crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea are attractive enough in themselves, while the varied coastline features many charming beaches and the impressive white cliffs of Cape Lefkatas at the southern tip. The wooded mountains of the interior, some of which rise to over 1,100m, provide exceptional walking opportunities, stunning scenery, and a scattering of intact villages where the way of life remains profoundly connected to the island's ancient traditions and customs. The island's capital, Lefkada Town, is a vibrant centre with numerous seafront tavernas and bars, a good selection of shops, and a busy marina.
At its northern point, Lefkada is connected to mainland Greece by a causeway and, via frequent ferry services from the port of Nidri, to several of the other islands of the Ionian archipelago (including nearby Meganissi), making it easy to explore further afield.
