With increasingly rare direct beach access and a private jetty, this beautifully designed villa sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 wonderful en-suite bedrooms. Both Agni and Kalami bays with their popular tavernas can be reached on foot. Hire a boat for your stay, and you won’t even need a car. Generous terraces make the most of the views overlooking the enchanting infinity pool (2 × 5 m, depth 1,5 m) to the Ionian Sea beyond.
The interiors are elegant and airy, finished in fresh colours with bright accents to complement the house’s fabulous setting and the Corfiot-inspired building materials used throughout. The bedrooms are light and spacious; the bathrooms are also finished in natural stone, and the shower floors are paved with pebbles.
On the ground level, a charming living room with a fireplace opens onto the dining area, whilst the modern kitchen with an island is fully equipped, including an American-style fridge and a wine cooler. Spacious terraces are perfect for lounging and dining, and there is also a built-in barbecue area.
Master bedroom 1 (first level), featuring a super-king-size bed, has an en-suite shower room and a large private terrace with an outdoor bath and a comfortable daybed in the shade of the pergola.
Master bedroom 2 (garden level), also with a super-king-size bed, has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower, and opens onto a covered terrace.
The remaining 4 bedrooms, with double or twin beds, have en-suite shower rooms and access to a balcony or terrace (two on the ground level and two on the first level).
All bedrooms are air-conditioned and fitted with safes; there are also ceiling fans in the bedrooms, living room and on the covered terraces. Guests are provided with Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels, bathrobes, toiletries and a hairdryer in every bathroom.
Behind the villa lies an olive grove and a landscaped garden, offering numerous relaxation areas, terraces and hammocks. Below the pool level, there is a lovely terrace where you can enjoy the last rays of the sun and the view across the bay to Agni.
The villa is situated by the beach in Gialiskari Bay on the north-eastern coast of Corfu. It takes 50 minutes to drive here from the airport. Kalami (a 5-minute walk away) offers boat hire, water sports (water skiing, wakeboarding), two small family-run shops, a souvenir shop, bars and tavernas. At Agni (also a 5-minute walk), there are bars, tavernas and boat hire. There is another taverna at Kerasia Beach (6 km), as well as several bars and tavernas at San Stefano (8.5 km).
To truly appreciate Corfu, you need to see it from the sea. Hire a boat to discover the most secluded coves on the north-eastern coast, accessible only by water. Here you can enjoy beautiful beaches and go snorkelling in one of the many coves, and in the evening, admire the sunset whilst relaxing in one of the nearby tavernas.
The charm of dining at a coastal tavern lies in discovering a new one every day, pulling up in your small boat to one of the jetties, where the owner (or waiter) will help you moor, then hand you the menu and show you to your table. And believe me, there’s plenty to choose from: The Wave, Pagopotion, Kaparelli and Eucalyptus in San Stefano; Agni Taverna, Toulas, Nikolas Taverna and The White House in Kalami; Glyfa in Kamanaki; the Kerasia fish restaurant; and many others in the harbour of Kassiopi.
Kalami is a charming little cove with a good selection of restaurants. For example, The White House is still owned by the family from whom the famous writer Lawrence Durrell rented it before the Second World War. He later described the story of the house and the incredible charm of Corfu in his book *Prospero’s Cell*. Today, the family who owns it have transformed the house into a modern Greek restaurant with a chic cocktail area in the garden, shaded by olive trees, offering a picturesque view of the bay and the Albanian coastline.
Agni, another charming little village within walking distance of the villa, may be small (just three tavernas and a few other buildings), but it is an incredibly beautiful place to sunbathe and swim in the crystal-clear sea.
The island has a rich history and played an important role in the history of ancient Greece. Head to the cosmopolitan city of Corfu for a memorable experience, stroll through its narrow streets and pop into one of the venues on the famous Liston Street, visit the various museums (Archaeological and Byzantine), palaces, and the Byzantine castle of Angelokastro.
Corfu’s tavernas are renowned for their high standard of service, and you’ll receive a warm welcome whether you come for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or simply to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink.
