This delightful villa (500 sqm) is a peaceful retreat where modern design seamlessly blends with the surrounding natural environment. This enchanting property invites you to immerse yourself in the relaxing charm of Portugal’s Alentejo region, offering an ultimate balance of tranquility and sophisticated comfort.
The villa comprises several cottages, set in the pristine nature of Melides and just a short distance from the picturesque beaches of Aberta Nova, Carvalhal, and Comporta. This exceptional place provides the ideal getaway to relax, boasting a sprawling 30-hectare estate surrounded by approximately 800 majestic cork oaks.
Famous architect Jacques Grange has brought the relaxed ambiance of Comporta to Melides. His design of five independent structures joined by terraces, pathways, and alfresco relaxation areas ensures guests complete privacy, even when holidaying with multiple families.
The main house includes a generous master bedroom with a double bed (180 × 200 cm), an adjoining bathroom, and a roomy dressing area. For complete immersion in nature, there’s an alfresco shower with beautiful views. The villa also features a spacious living area, a separate TV room, an additional suite (double bed 180 × 200 cm), and a bedroom with two bunk beds (90 × 190 cm), complete with a dressing area and a shared bathroom.
On top of the main house, you'll find a sun-kissed terrace where you can enjoy fairytale starry nights and the calming sounds of nature. The outdoor patio is an ideal spot for a laid-back lunch or dinner, with a charming interplay of shade and light.
The separate kitchen is equipped with a high-quality Lacanche stove, a large fridge, a bean-to-cup coffee machine, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a toaster. You can enjoy your meals at the dining table indoors or al fresco on the covered terrace, pleasant at any time of day — be it a quiet breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a delightful dinner while you admire the surrounding landscape.
The guest house offers three generous suites, each featuring a double bed (160 × 200 cm) and a private bathroom for maximum comfort. On the adjoining terrace, you can relax on the comfortable sun loungers and admire the peaceful surroundings.
The pool house invites you to unwind. The 18-meter swimming pool, equipped with a counter-current system, promises you a revitalizing dip, while the sun loungers around the pool offer the ideal spot to relax. There’s also a bar for a convivial gathering, along with a shower and WC for added convenience. In the cooler months, enjoy the sauna for the perfect relaxation experience. The property also features an outdoor barbecue area and a pétanque court. The fifth structure comprises staff quarters.
Melides means the same to the Comporta coast as Montauk to the Hamptons or Cogolin to St. Tropez — not as popular in name, but no less worth being explored. The village’s landscape varies slightly from the greater Alentejo region, thanks to the Lagoa de Melides — the lagoon surrounding the community, which boasts an impressive variety of flora and fauna within its protected ecosystem. Waterbird habitat is also abundant, and eels from the waterways are one of the popular local dishes.
Rice paddies and cork fields make a one-of-a-kind oceanfront landscape in this part of the Atlantic, while further inland, the higher altitude relief of the Serra de Grândola offers a great choice of footpaths and hiking trails, gurgling streams, and a 19-kilometer circular route, the Vereda de Melides, designed for deiscovering the region on bike or foot. Nearby, the town of Comporta abounds in shops, cafes, restaurants, and beautiful hamlets of the rich and famous. Design-conscious shoppers and art patrons will appreciate the flourishing selection of galleries, studios, workshops, and boutiques.
