This impressive mansion is set among magnificent parkland on the edge of Palermo, on the road to Monreale. Its garden is one of the most iconic in Sicily; strolling along its paths you’ll pass into another world, a place of absolute peace, full of citrus orchards, century-old trees and botanical species from over the world.
Peeping through the lush greenery is the stunning 16th-century palazzo, its sumptuousness timeless, its presence welcoming. Outside, two amazing terraces boast both sunny and shady spots on which to sit and enjoy the serenity of the gardens; close by the pool is surrounded by tropical foliage.
You’ll follow in the footsteps of many famous guests as you pass through the doors – Jacqueline Kennedy, King Ferdinand IV and Queen Caroline and Richard Wagner, who composed part of his Parsifal in the Music Room, to name a few. In the living rooms, 18th-century frescoes create a classical, romantic ambience, their liveliness being the counterbalance to the tranquility of the garden, while impressive tile-work brings a cool, rustic edge. Four large bedrooms, each individually themed, feature en-suite bathrooms. The villa is fully staffed with a concierge, butler and a chef who will prepare all meals.
Ground level: billiard room, living room, library, guest bathroom, main kitchen, loggia for al fresco dining area, Green Bedroom, accessed descending three steps from the garden, with en-suite bathroom (tub and separate shower), Pink Bedroom, accessed descending four steps from the garden, with en-suite bathroom (tub).
First level (accessed directly from the garden via a grand double staircase): dining room, main living room entirely decorated with frescoes, Music room with piano and sheet music signed by Wagner, Verdi and Artur Rubenstein, terrace. Majolica Suite: paved with 16th century tiles, two twin beds, lounge area, en-suite bathroom (tub). Contessa Suite: entirely frescoed, considered the master-bedroom of the palazzo; with boudoir and en-suite bathroom (tub and shower attachment).
The historic garden is open for guided tours. No tour will be scheduled after a booking has been confirmed at the villa. Garden tours that have been confirmed before the booking have to take place; these tours are only guided by staff and only give access to the garden, not the interior of the house. Your tour consultant will inform you before your booking if garden tours are scheduled during your stay.
This fabulous mansion is a 10-minute drive or less from the golden mosaics of the Cappella Palatina and the surrounding Palazzo dei Normanni, and the unique Cappuccini Catacombs. Head to Monreale for a walk by the port, a visit to the cathedral, or a stop at a family-friendly waterpark. It’s also a short drive to the center of Palermo, whose colorful streets offer a blend of architecture from across the Mediterranean.
