Situated just outside the historic centre of Marsala, this bright villa offers refined, generous interiors. Outside is a superb heated pool, surrounded by lush, beautifully landscaped gardens that are ideal for a walk before or after dinner. Built in 1840 by the aristocratic ancestor of the owner, the property has a long history of hospitality. Indeed, it was firstly designed as a country lodge to accommodate the Count and his friends during their hunting trips in the Marsala area.
The villa is spread over two levels and has been lovingly furnished and decorated by the owner. Family heirlooms, including two captivating family trees, antique maiolica tiled floors and many other authentic features hint at the house's esteemed history, while the large, airy and romantic bedrooms are a pleasure to relax in.
The main entrance leads into a hallway, off which, to the right, is a seating room with TV and a library. Moving straight on you will find a central billiard room from where all the other rooms on the ground level can be accessed: a double bedroom (160 × 190) with adjacent shower room; a capacious high-ceilinged living room with plenty of sofas, a fireplace, and access to the front terrace and gardens; a spacious, elegant dining room; and a roomy, well-equipped kitchen.
Stairs lead from the entrance hall to the first level and the main sleeping area, consisting of 3 large double bedrooms and 2 double-twins. The first one is a double (140 × 190) with sea views and en-suite shower room. Opposite it is a large suite, complete with double bedroom (160 × 180), a small lounge area, and an en-suite bathroom with tub and separate shower. Next comes a twin-double bedroom (160/80 × 190) with sea views, a third double bedroom (150 × 200) with terrace access, and a shared shower room. Accommodation on the first level is completed by a second twin-double bedroom (160/80 × 190) with en-suite shower room and access to a wide panoramic terrace with fabulous views of the sea, the Egadi Islands and Erice.
By the pool, should you need a little extra privacy, is a guest house with a double-twin bedroom (160/80 × 190) and en-suite shower room. This shower room is also used by guests relaxing by the pool and is therefore entered both from the pool area and from the bedroom.
The property sits in a generous plot of beautifully kept private parkland. Lawns combine with avenues of palms, olive and citrus groves and well-kept Mediterranean shrubs to provide an extremely charming environment in all seasons. The big heated pool (18 × 7) ensures comfortable bathing even in the lower seasons, while the presence of a pool house, equipped with bar, lounge area, bedroom and full bathroom makes your relaxation by the pool even more comfortable. The little guests, meanwhile, will be kept happily busy with the small play area next to the pool house, completed with different kids' toys.
The villa ta is conveniently located for exploring the most picturesque parts of western Sicily. Marsala, just a few minutes away, is most commonly famous for its fortified wines, invented for export by English traders in the 18th century. It was also the starting point from which Garibaldi launched his attack on the Bourbons to ignite a revolution that was to create the nation of Italy. Today, the town benefits from a wonderfully renovated centre with some fine restaurants and bars and some amazing beaches. An added bonus of staying near in Marsala is the hydrofoil service to Favignana and the Egadi Islands: a 30-minute trip directly from Marsala (or a 20-minute trip from Trapani ) will take you to an island paradise of sandy beaches, idyllic coves and crystal-clear waters. Alternatively, why not rent a boat one day? Also close to the villa is the Phoenician island of Mozia, Erice, Trapani, the great Greek temples at Selinunte and Segesta, and the fabulous beaches of the southwest coast.
