Accommodation is spread over a main house, a guesthouse, and four externally accessed guest bedrooms. The main house's impressive, ancient wooden doors lead into a generous, bright, and well-appointed open-plan space with high, whitewashed wood-beamed ceilings, sandy tiled floors, and pale peach-colored walls.
Much of this room takes a spacious living area with plenty of sofas and armchairs, some set around a decorative fireplace. French doors open outside onto a spacious terrace running along the front of and between the main house and the guesthouse. Through a wide arch, the living area flows into the bright, sea-view dining area, which is served by a long, well-fitted kitchen with a range cooker, a pantry, and doors accessing the shady central part of the terrace and the pool area. To the left of the main house’s front door is a guest WC and the spacious master bedroom with a double bed (160 × 200), sea views, an en-suite shower room, and a private terrace overlooking the bay, marina, and village of Finikas.
The guesthouse is located a few meters across the terrace from the main house. Its door lead into an open-plan space with a kitchenette and, through another wide arch, a living area furnished with a chaise-longue and several chairs. A pair of French doors open onto the terrace and offer the views out to sea. A corridor leads from the living space to the sleeping area comprising 2 bedrooms. A pastel blue kids’ bedroom features a living area, a mezzanine level with a pair of mattresses (100 × 200), sea views, and French doors onto the terrace. Its shower room is on the opposite side of the corridor. A luminous, airy pale pink sea-view double bedroom 3 has a double bed (160 × 200), en-suite shower room, and French doors onto the terrace.
Flights of steps descend from either side of the main terrace to the garden level where the independent guest bedrooms are located. On one side is a generous suite with high ceilings, a four-poster bed (160 × 200), a lounge area, a kitchenette and an en-suite shower room.
On the other end, accessed from a zigzagging terrace, you will find: double bedroom 5 with a double bed (160 × 200), an open shower room behind a semi-partition wall, a separate WC, and shady terrace space with a cushioned, built-in lounge area; double/twin bedroom 6 (100/200 × 200) with a sofa and an en-suite shower room; double/twin bedroom 7 (100/200 × 200) with a feature stone wall and an en-suite shower room.
The villa benefits from the ample al fresco area with enough space for everyone to come together or find a tranquil spot to read, have a nap, or simply admire the views. A generous sea-view terrace runs in front of and between the main house and the guesthouse, and it is here where most outdoor activities take place. There are various well-furnished lounge areas and a large shady space housing a lovely dining area served by the kitchen in the main house and a built-in wood-burning barbecue/oven. Hidden by a wall of local stone, this is a charmingly private corner for relaxed lunches and long dinners.
A couple of steps down from this terrace is a large decked area surrounding the amazing infinity pool (12 × 5,5) on two sides. Built-in, cozy seating and a mix of mattresses, bean bags, and sun loungers provide comfortable space for everyone. The views from the pool itself are a real pleasure, whether you're swimming lengths or simply refreshing. Steps lead down from either end of the main terrace to the gardens and the guest bedrooms. Two of these (one on either side) feature their own outdoor lounge areas, while the other three share a terrace, furnished with lounge chairs. A path through the vast lawned gardens boasting a wide variety of mature Mediterranean flora, joins the guest bedrooms on either side.
The villa is nestled on the Syros southwest coast just a 10-minute walk from the small marina, sandy beach, and village of Finikas, which offers a great choice of cafés, bars, tavernas, and a couple of minimarkets. Also within easy walking distance taking about 10 minutes is the beach of Kokkina. Picturesque Syros was once an important commercial center, a bridge between Asia Minor and the western Mediterranean. Its capital, the busy port of Hermoupolis, was founded in the 1820s during the Greek War of Independence and named after Hermes, the Greek god of commerce.
Hermoupolis prospered as its status as a lively hub for trade and shipping grew. Merchants and entrepreneurs transformed the town into a highly sought-after place to live and do business. Wealthy traders and the upper classes built elegant homes and magnificent neo-classical civic buildings, many of which survive today, such as the town hall on the main square and the Apollo Municipal Theatre, a mini replica of La Scala di Milano. Towering around the harbor, houses climb up two hills, each with an impressive church on the top - one catholic, Agios Georgios, and one Greek Orthodox, the Resurrection of Christ. It's a charming, historic town with an important industrial heritage, abundance of things to see and do, and a good array of cafés, bars, restaurants, and shops.
Today, Syros is considered the capital of the Cyclades and it's a desirable destination for families and those looking for a relaxed ambience free from mass tourism. There are many charming beaches scattered around the coast, particularly in the south close to the villa. Apart from Megas Gialos and Varis, these include Komito, Posidonia and Agathopes in the southwest, Galissa on the west coast, and Azolimnos and Fokiotripes in the southeast. All are within a 15-minute drive.
