This lovely villa's easy, almost Provençale allure enchants its guests at first sight. Thick stone walls, blue shutters, and terracotta terraces ooze pure Mediterranean charm, while the generous gardens, crisscrossed by pathways, create a peaceful, secluded, and sensuous ambiance.
All the rooms are on one level. The main entrance leads into a cozy hallway. A door on the right opens into the large living area, with built-in sofas settled around a massive fireplace. The living area flows under a wide arch and into the pretty kitchen/dining area, whose large sliding glass doors welcome the sea views and open onto the surrounding terraces and gardens. This space is indicative of the overall property style: authentic features (exposed wooden beams, stone and terracotta flooring, and thick wooden doors) and lovely antique furnishings hint at the villa's respected age, while quality modern appliances and fittings cater for contemporary lifestyle requirements.
Behind the kitchen (which also adjoins the entrance hall), a short corridor takes you to a laundry room and one of the four bedrooms, a double (180 × 200 cm) with en-suite shower room, WC, and access to a small patio.
A self-sufficient wing accessed from the living area houses the remaining bedrooms:
• a second double (165 × 200 cm) with fabulous sea views, a walk-in wardrobe, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with double sinks, a WC, a shower, and a separate bathtub;
• a double/twin (145 × 190 cm) with sea views, access to the gardens, and an adjacent shower room;
• a smaller double (160 × 200 cm) with garden views and en-suite shower room (without WC);
• a separate toilet accessed from the corridor.
The house is surrounded by sprawling gardens, benefiting from various terraces, lawned areas, and panoramic spots. To one side of the villa, near the parking space, a path leads up to a small lounge with views over the sea and the watchtower near the property. Just off the main entrance are a terrace of fruit trees and the patio of the master bedroom near the kitchen.
No matter how lovely these areas are, guests naturally gravitate towards the generous lawn area on the seaside of the property. Here, there is a shaded alfresco dining table, complemented by a wood-fired oven and a lounge area, both accessed from the kitchen/dining room. Scenic views take in the azure sea, the blue sky, and the green foliage of the mature trees around the house. To top it all, a path leads down through the gardens to a small sandy beach and the crystal-clear sea waters.
The villa is nestled on a small beach-bordering promontory on the south coast of Corsica, just over 20km northwest of Bonifacio. This part of the coast is characterised by a number of little coves and bays, many of which have charming small sandy beaches. Bonifacio, one of Corsica's most dramatically located and beautiful towns, definitely deserves a visit. Sitting proudly on a high cliff above the sea, it boasts scenic views over to Sardinia and offers several good restaurants and bars.
Less than an hour's drive northwest is the panoramically settled, medieval town of Sartène, whose enchanting labyrinth of streets gives an idea of Corsican life away from the coastline. Heading up the east coast, you can explore a series of fabulous beaches (such as Santa Giulia, Tamaricciu, and Palombaggia), and Porto Vecchio, another of numerous Corsica's wonderful towns offering a nice selection of shops, bars, and restaurants and a beautiful old town centre looking over the wide natural harbour. Further afield on the west coast is the island's capital, Ajaccio, which is a must-visit, as it is the birthplace of the great Napoleon.
