Nestled on the cliffs of Bonifacio overlooking the sea, on the ruins of a 13th-century grain mill, built by the Genoese, this fortress-like residence combines history with modern amenities and furnishings. The villa (420 sq m) can accommodate up to six guests and offers personalized services, including a butler and housekeeper, concierge service, and breakfast. And did we mention the heated swimming pool surrounded by stone walls, with endless panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea?
How can we best describe the atmosphere of this place? The villa itself is reminiscent of the city's metamorphosis: this unique building is part of Bonifacio's heritage. As a private residence, with the utmost respect for the land on which it is built, it carefully intertwines the past with modern sophistication. Architectural details include precious woods, an abundance of stone, tadelakt and beimat, traditional local materials, and antique terracotta, preserved exquisitely. Pale limestone, laid using ancient knowledge, is combined with refined antique and minimalist contemporary furniture.
It is a charming retreat for a peaceful, secluded life both inside and outside the house. A cosy hidden gem consisting of three spacious en-suite bedrooms and a large living room with sea views. There are two kitchens at your disposal, one inside and one outside, as well as a heated indoor pool surrounded by an atrium and a lounge with a dining area at the end. The house has both modest narrow windows and large bay windows. The views are classic Mediterranean: the azure sea winding through the bays below, breathtaking sunsets, starry skies, and soaring seagulls. With hotel-level service (butler and housekeeper at your disposal), the villa is the perfect retreat for travellers seeking their own piece of paradise.
The villa's location on the shores of the Gulf of Sant'Amanza in Bonifacio, on the rugged Mediterranean coast of Corsica, makes it ideal for beach lounging, boating, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, and SUP surfing. There are three different beaches in the villa surroundings, one of which has a private pontoon, sun loungers and parasols, as well as beach staff who can provide guests with SUP boards, diving or snorkelling equipment and refreshing drinks. The second beach is more tranquil, with canopy beds set up along the coast and drinks service. The third is an exclusive, wilder beach named after Queen Elizabeth, who is rumoured to have stayed here during her travels in the Mediterranean.
The town of Bonifacio, where the villa is located, is an ancient maritime capital, once full of merchants, sailors, pirates, and adventure seekers. The villa's activity menu includes a guided tour of the old city, which will allow you to immerse yourself in its turbulent past, hidden behind the ancient city walls. Today, Bonifacio is brought back to life thanks to dozens of restaurants, taverns, and seaside cafés, as well as shops, craft boutiques, and historical sites.
Corsica, referred to as the Island of Beauty, is also famous for its inland attractions — rugged mountains, picturesque villages nestled against chalk cliffs, wild shrubs, rushing streams, and cascades. Hiking enthusiasts can head for the impressive peaks crossed by the well-marked GR20 trail, a famous route that crosses the island. A trip along the island's narrow mountain and coastal roads is a fascinating journey through unspoilt landscapes with striking contrasts. Corsica benefits from high mountains and lowlands with small harbours, as well as dozens of villages lost in time. The island's impressive and diverse coastline offers beautiful secluded coves to visit by sailboat, bays for private swimming and picnics, and long sandy beaches with not a soul in sight.
