Nestled proudly above a lively port on the sparkling Eo estuary in picturesque Asturias, northern Spain, this imposing historical palace, topped with a central tower and flanked by two enchanting crenellated wings, looks absolutely stunning. Dating back to the 16th century, the palace was home to the noble Pardo de Donlebún family for hundreds of years before it fell into decay. The Madera Fernandez family came to its rescue in the 2000s, spending 11 years to bring the palace back to its former glory. The aim was to eliminate any excessive additions and restore its authentic beauty. Nowadays, this outstanding property is ready to greet a new generation of guests. Available for exclusive use, the palace is the ultimate place for families and friends to spend an unforgettable time together exploring Asturias, Spain’s secret jewel. Furthermore, it is ideal for weddings, events, and presentations.
After a thorough 11-year restoration, the property has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in acknowledgment of its architectural significance. A step inside transports you to the grandeur of another era, harmoniously combined with every modern amenity you can think of. Eleven elegant bedrooms, cozy and spacious communal spaces (two living rooms, a library, a TV room, a games room, a bar, and a leafy orangery with sea views), high-tech kitchens, and modern bathrooms are available to your group on an exclusive basis. Outside, you are greeted by a series of garden terraces sloping down to the shore, a private heated outdoor pool and pool house, and the scenic verdant landscape of Asturias. The palace is an entirely private home-from-home with the option to choose catering on a breakfast-only, half-board, or full-board basis.
Arranged over three levels, the generous rooms are gracefully decorated with elegant wooden floors and exposed timber beams. Massive stone fireplaces echo the solid exterior walls, whilst beautiful furniture provides a variety of cozy spaces to relax with a book or share a drink with other guests. Admire the light coming through the charming orangery, and enjoy the view of the water and gardens.
Spread across two levels, each bedroom is named after a historic royal figure from Asturias, adding a touch of noble charm and offering its own charming personality with large double beds and tastefully finished bathrooms. The double rooms and en-suite bathrooms ensure a sophisticated, lavish ambiance, featuring modern décor, contemporary art, and tailor-made furniture that gracefully matches the palace’s eternal character.
Soothing neutral colors set the tone and are freshened up with custom-made and antique furniture, beautiful lighting, floral arrangements, and carefully selected art pieces. A central library area and living room divide the bedrooms: here, guests can enjoy the common spaces. The terrace at one end of the first level is a delightful spot to sit outside and read or enjoy a coffee whilst taking in the view over the surrounding hills. An internal elevator provides guests with limited mobility easy access to all rooms and suites.
The first level houses two spacious regal master suites (70 sqm and 100 sqm, respectively), boasting enchanting gardens and ocean views. Both provide a peaceful atmosphere with generous living and sleeping areas, flooded with natural light and adorned with glowing chandeliers hanging from authentic beams. A further nine en-suite bedrooms combine serene modern décor and period features with views over the fragrant gardens or down to the shining estuary.

Asturias is a region virtually untouched by tourism. Everywhere, you'll admire majestic mountains and lush valleys, dense forests and golden beaches. Adventurers, culinary enthusiasts, and fans of history and architecture will love exploring the treasures of this area. The palace is close to charming fishing ports, one of the world's best surfing beaches, Tapia, and just 1.5 hours from the ancient capital of Oviedo, where pre-Romanesque architecture has been preserved.
Nestled on the hillside of the lovely coastal town of Figueras, the palace boasts a central setting with beautiful views across the surrounding landscape. The pretty Playa de Arnao, just a 20-minute walk from the property, is ideal for a swim, with its crescent of white sand and transparent blue waters. Alternatively, hop in the car and explore the nearby coastline to visit the wild beaches and dreamy little fishing villages. A short 10-minute drive will bring you to Playa de Penarronda, a popular spot for surfers, where you can take a lesson or sit on the sand and enjoy the show put on by the locals. Taking its name from the elongated shell-shaped rock in its centre, the beach showcases a unique beauty as well as a beautiful plant life that climbs up the dunes.
The surrounding Asturias landscape is full of pristine countryside, with glorious mountains and enchanting valleys covered by dense forests and beautiful rivers that flow out to sea. Enjoy a gentle walk and admire the idyllic scenery, or head to the Picos de Europa, where you can wander through the shaded groves of oak and beech trees or discover the exciting rock formations ingrained into the limestone mountains. There are several Information Centres where you can find out more about the area or find a trail and take a more challenging route to ascend to the peak and enjoy exciting views.
The big city of Gijon is just over an hour by car, or take a day trip to the ancient capital city of Oviedo to explore the lovely streets full of historical monuments and churches. Discover the majestic Catedral de San Salvador and stop at the Camara Santa, a delightful pre-Romanesque chapel dating back to the 8th century. Retreat into the shade in the green oasis of Campo San Francisco, once a vegetable plot belonging to the San Francisco Convent, or stroll through the medieval quarter and admire its incredible ambiance. The Mercado El Fontán is filled with bright stands, seducing you to wander the rows of local produce and try traditional Asturian specialities, such as regional cider or the popular cabrales – a blue-veined cheese made from a mixture of cow’s, goat’s, and sheep’s milk. There are some restaurants nearby where you can share plates of tapas or enjoy a hearty fish stew or a plate of fabada asturiana, a delicious dish made from white beans and Asturian sausage.
