The villa dates back to the 16 century and it has belonged to the family since five generations. Being the property of the Bardi feudal and noble family of bankers relatives of the Medici´s, then until 1820 it belonged to the Vespucci´s – descendant of the great Amerigo. That year the house was sold to the other family and in the early 1900s the villa was inherited by the current owners' family. Since then, the historic property has kept its authentic charming characteristics and genuine Tuscan charm, whilst undergoing a total renovation and careful restoration phase taking in consideration all contemporary comforts and amenities.
The four main bedrooms are on the first level of the villa. Each boasts individual style, with its own en-suite bathroom, they are large with big windows overlooking the park and the hills surrounding the house. All the rooms have been tastefully furnished and adorned with the best local materials handmade by Florentine artisans. The careful attention to details, from the thorough choice of the materials used, to the elegantly designed furniture and the collection of art decorating the walls, has helped to create a special space that ideally combines with the property´s original structure.
Master bedroom 1 and bedroom 2 offer 1 Queen canopy bed, walk-in-closet and en-suite bathroom (one with bathtub and the other with shower). Both bedrooms 3 and 4 come with twin beds (can be joined into a King bed on request) and en-suite bathroom with shower.
Second level consists of a small TV room with flat TV (Sky satellite channels) and 2 suites. Suite n. 1 includes Queen bedroom 5 with en-suite bathroom with shower, living room and kitchenette. Suite n. 2 offers bedroom 6 with twin beds (can be joined into a King bed on request) and en-suite bathroom with shower and bedroom 7 with Queen bed, walk-in-closet and en-suite bathroom with bathtub.
Villa features 2 living rooms where you can relax or work, in a quiet and cozy ambience. In both living rooms you can enjoy the crackling fire of the fireplace while resting on the sofa, surrounded by the large windows that offer views over the villa's park. Ground level also includes dining room, kitchen, study room, laundry, and guest bathroom.
In the spacious kitchen with its authentic terracotta floors there is large antique walnut dining table, open-wood fireplace, a brazier, copper pans and utensils. It also offers contemporary appliances: ovens and gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, fridges (one also for wine), toaster, blender, coffee machines. You can either cook by yourselves or choose to book a Chef who will take care of the house chores, the shopping and will prepare all your meals for you.
Just next door to the main villa there is lovely detached country-classic guest house for two offering large living room with big windows, bedroom with twin beds (can be joined into a King on request), 2 bathrooms (1 with a tub and 1 shower) and kitchen with marble surfaces equipped with all needed appliances. The one-level guest house of about 90 sq. m of living area features a charming brick patio with a full set of table and chairs, to dine alfresco and admire the panoramic view overlooking the Impruneta hills, woods and vineyards.
The generous secluded villa grounds grant privacy and offer walking paths across roses and olive groves, from which excellent Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced every year (guests are welcome to taste it upon arrival). Impeccably maintained at all times, the park provides various lounge spaces for al fresco dining and it is perfect for outdoor summer banquets.
The villa´s pool area is completely fenced and offers a full set of sun loungers, deckchairs and umbrellas, as well as a changing room. Being exposed to the sun all day, a large pergola fully furnished with a table and a fridge, is the ideal solution to keep beverages cool during the hot summer days. The pool size is 6 x 12 m.
One of the main villa's perks is its location approximately 15 minutes drive from the beginning of the historic center of Florence (Porta Romana square) and about 5.6 km from the charming village of Impruneta, well-known for its terracotta production. Here you can visit the Mariano Sanctuary, full of very important works of religious art and Piazza Buondelmonti, where the town's traditional feasts take place every year: the Fiera di San Luca (St. Luke's fair) in October and the Festa dell'Uva (grape feast) in September. It is also very close to both campuses of the International School of Florence, the one in Bagno a Ripoli and the other one close to Piazzale Michelangelo.
In Florence you should visit its cathedral and baptistry, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and the wonderful Chiesa di Piazza Santa Croce. You can wander along the little roads of the old town centre in search of craft and antique book shops that really make Florence unique and then stop in one of the region's best restaurants for a T-bone steak.
The convenient villa location allows guests to easily explore the Chianti region with its many lovely villages and vineyards (among others Antinori´s wine estate in about 24 km away). The Chianti villages such as Greve, Panzano and Castellina in Chianti are all within an easy driving distance. Here you can enjoy Chianti's extensive and scenic landscapes, covered in vineyards and woods, that are absolutely amazing in autumn when they turn red and orange. There are also the best wine cellars of the area here and you will have the opportunity to taste many Chianti wines, maybe along with one of the mouth-watering local dishes.
