Previously known as Castello Odero, this unique villa in Portofino is nestled above Punta Caiega, offering gorgeous views of Liguria and the bay of Paraggi. Designed by Tuscan architect Gino Coppedè, this famous residence was once the place of chic family parties. The current owners managed to preserve the heritage of the villa and its quintessentially Italian summer vibe – making it the perfect destination for celebrating milestones and special occasions with your loved ones. Welcome to the historic palazzo where exclusive features, personalized details, and exceptional services leave nothing to be desired.
Just a short stroll down the peaceful hillside of the protected national park sits the villa, opening its doors for the guests in July 2025, as one of the most picturesque, exclusive private properties on the Italian Riviera. Nestled on a private spit above Punta Caiega, on the Gulf of Portofino, between the Ligurian coastal villages of Paraggi and Portofino, this carefully renovated family palazzo boasts an exceptional panoramic viewpoint over the Riviera. The villa promises its guests seclusion and intimacy with private sea access while benefitting from all of the hotel's services.
Perched within the gardens of a national park and spread over three main levels, with an additional attic floor (little tower) and rooftop terrace, this summer residence accommodates up to 10 guests across five suites, including a secluded one-bedroom cottage amidst citrus groves. Originally built by famous Ligurian magnate Attilio Odero, the villa was created by Tuscan architect Gino Coppedè, matching Gothic Renessance with Art Nouveau innovation.
Villa guests will enjoy:
- exclusive use of the entire villa – 4 suites in the main building, plus a separate one-bedroom stone cottage
- 6.000 sqm of private and protected parkland to admire at your leisure
- a dedicated butler on site, available 24/7
- private driver service to Portofino, the hotel, and Gelateria San Giorgio

Enjoy the best of Portofino's life with the exclusive hotel a short walk away offering Ligurian dining and Dior spa treatments. Alternatively, your private driver will take you and your family or friends to the village, where you’ll discover a captivating haven, chic in design and playful in nature.
As the villa's future is still under construction, take a look at the past of this one-of-a-kind historical residence. The masterpiece of Florentine architect Gino Coppedè, it combines Neo-Renaissance features with amazing, textured details and lavish motifs. Iconical for Liguria, the villa was designed as the perfect summer escape for Italy’s most prominent families, where it shaped the idea of Villeggiatura – the relaxed summer holiday concept. Drawing from its history of hosting, the villa will open the doors for a new generation of friends and families as their private summer residence from 2025.
The current company owner bought the villa in 2021 and has since overseen its thorough renovation under Martin Brudnizki’s interior design vision and Marco Bay’s landscape architecture expertise. Main design features include the restoration of authentic Coppedè external frescoes and internal ceilings, marble bathrooms, and a collection of heritage antiques and modern artwork from the region. Guests will enjoy a subtropical secret sea garden, plunge pool with sun deck, butler service, a fully equipped kitchen with personal chef upon request, gym, summer pavilion for yoga or treatments, and a spacious shaded terrace for outdoor dining and family gatherings.
Every angle of the estate’s lush lookout boasts a private panorama of Portofino and beyond. The villa benefits from a fabulous setting on the Gulf of Tigullio, with views over Paraggi and the Cinque Terre to the East and Portofino to the West, while the lower terraces provide a much closer view of Portofino Bay.
Perched in the quiet hillside above Portofino, the hotel has been the embodiment of la Dolce Vita since the 1950s. Located in a terraced former 16th-century Benedictine monastery overlooking the bay, the hotel is both a classic retreat and a chic destination, greeting famous guests from celebrated actors to artists and film directors, and even royalty. Inspired by the natural beauty and legacy of the Ligurian Riviera, the hotel's landscaping provides different spaces hosting both grand events and smaller, more private gatherings. The planting scheme includes local flora and minerals, showcasing the exclusive beauty of Portofino. The color palette reflects the blue and turquoise tones of the Mediterranean Sea, while the unique rock formations of Portofino's cliffs and the aromatic subtropical and Ligurian herbs further enhance the natural atmosphere.
A symbol of Portofino charm since the 1950s, in June of 2025 the hotel will present an entirely refurbished main building, showcasing the spirit of Ligurian craftsmanship and design, including a redesigned cocktail bar and new Dior Spa. Notably, this third phase of the hotel's renovation coincides with the opening of the villa DLI 0298.
The careful renovation of the former 16th-century Benedictine monastery, led by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, respects the history of the building while elegantly injecting modern relevance. Throughout each summer season, the hotel has presented new spaces: 2024 welcomed new rooms and a lobby, while in 2023 the hotel announced the transformation of the exceptional pool area, famously overlooking the shining Ligurian Bay, as well as the new restaurant and the refurbished Baronessa Suite, one of the hotel’s signature suites, inspired by the aristocratic Palazzos of the region.
For the 2025 season, this renowned haven of glamour and natural beauty will continue its transformation revealing a refurbished main building, with a focus on new rooms and shared areas, including a restyled cocktail bar, coffee bar, lounge bar, breakfast area, retail space, champagne display and Dior Spa. This new wellness area offers four treatment rooms and a dedicated relaxation space on a fantastic roof terrace. The new rooms and suites are decorated with modern Italian artworks and local botanical prints, while the corridors adorn exclusive sketches of Portofino and heritage photos of the legendary property and its guests, over the years.
