Nestled above the shining Aegean Sea on Serifos's east coast, and facing the horizon of islands, this enchanting villa is a perfect retreat for those who wish to spend cheerful days in pure Greek style. An array of cozy terraces invite you to relax, a semi-private beach below the house beckons when you want to refresh, an outdoor kitchen and dining area make every meal a pleasant memory, and the nearby harbor village of Livada awaits you with open arms.
Accommodation is spread over a main house, an externally accessed guest wing, and two separate guest rooms. The entrance to the main house opens into a convivial and cozily furnished living room, overlooking the blue Aegean Sea via a full wall of sliding glass doors. To the left is a big, L-shaped white sofa and a fireplace, to the right is a desk, a couple of armchairs, a TV, and a second glass door opening onto the terraces. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line one wall, grey stone floors run throughout, white walls with niches and high wood-beamed ceilings increase the bright, airy ambiance, and an eclectic range of artworks, antiques, collectibles, and soft furnishings add gentle splashes of color.
A couple of steps at one end of the living area lead up to the kitchen/dining room, whose two areas are divided by a semi-partition wall with openings on either side. The dining table faces the sea, while the well-fitted kitchen has access to the shaded outdoor dining area.
At the other end of the living room, a door between the bookshelves leads into a private corridor, off which are the two en-suite shower rooms of the master bedroom, and the bedroom itself, a double (160 × 200) with gorgeous sea views and sliding glass doors accessing a generous, sheltered part of the terrace.
The guest wing is situated a few steps across the terraces from the main house and offers three double bedrooms (160 × 200) and three shower rooms, all accessed from a central hallway. Each bedroom boasts sea views and access to a lovely wrap-around terrace.
The remaining bedrooms present two separate suites. The first is located just across the rear terraces from the main house and consists of a bedroom with a small double bed (140 × 200) and an en-suite shower room (best suitable for an independent teenager). The second is placed in a secluded, panoramic position up some steps behind the main house. Accessed from a private terrace, it includes a double bedroom (160 × 200) with sea views, a kitchen area, and an en-suite shower room.
Set on a plot of about 1 ha that reaches the coastline, villa's outdoor spaces are a pleasure to explore and spend time in. The property’s elevated setting and its east-facing orientation allow exciting views, which, on a clear day include 12 neighbouring islands: Andros, Tinos, Syros, Naxos, Paros, Antiparos, Ios, Sikinos, Sifnos, Folegandros, Mykonos and Delos.
Stone-clad terraces wrap around all parts of the villa, providing endless options for guests to come together or to find a private corner for some quiet time. Running along the façade and around the sides of the main house and the guest wing is a spacious sea-view terrace boasting a seemingly endless variety of sun-drenched and shaded areas to relax and admire the soothing views. Steps and paths join the different areas, each well-furnished for relaxing and bordered by stone walls, aromatic plants, hardy cacti, aspiring pine trees, lively bougainvillea, and terracotta urns. The master bedroom benefits from its own shaded terrace area and a few steps down below is a dreamy pine tree-shaded lounge facing the sea.
Perhaps the main perk of the terraced gardens is the generous, cane-shaded, and wonderfully private alfresco dining area and kitchen, located between the main house and the guest wing. A delight for cooking enthusiasts and lovers of al fresco living, it offers a traditional, stone-built wood-fired oven and barbecue, a sink, and a central island prep area. You will no doubt spend many unforgettable, convivial moments with your loved ones here, cooking together, dining late into the night, and admiring the sea.
The guest room above the main house offers its own shaded sea-view terrace framed by bright climbers and leafy greenery.
The icing on the cake is found at the bottom of the terraces, where the gardens join a coastal track shared with just a couple of other properties. A short walk of 3 minutes will take you down to a paradisal, pebbly-sandy cove, where the transparent waters of the Aegean Sea await.
The property is situated on the east coast of Serifos, just a couple of kilometers from Livadi, whose port, marina, shops, tavernas, and fabulous arc of sand are about a 7-minute drive/ 30-minute walk away. While the villa offers direct access to a small cove shared with a couple of other properties (though other visitors may occasionally moor in the bay), there are many other options for lovers of sandy-pebbly beaches, including those at Agios Sostis and Lia (both of which are an easy walking distance away) and Livadi, Psili Amos and Agios Ioannis (all within a 5-to-7-minute drive).
Ancient Serifos Town, or Chora, wraps around a rocky peak some 230m above Livadi. Featuring a host of traditional white-washed houses, several amazing churches, and a collection of historic windmills, it also benefits from glorious panoramas that are well worth the 10-minute drive up the winding road. During the summer months, the town's bars, cafés, and tavernas spill out onto the charming streets and squares to create a dreamy vibe.
While Serifos's coastline is characterized by its numerous sandy beaches, rocky coves, and bays, its inland features sparsely populated highlands (with hills rising to more than 500m above sea level) and dotted with white-washed, blue-domed churches and monasteries.
Measuring just 11km by 11km, the island is easy to explore in a week. There's a "main" road that runs in a figure of 8 on a southwest-northeast axis, with other minor roads and tracks leading off this to the numerous beaches, hamlets, and churches around the island. When it comes to the coast, however, we recommend you hire a boat for a couple of days (or the whole of your stay) and explore Serifos's myriad marine attractions from the water.
