With its soft, curvaceously shaped form, its wide wrap-around terraces, and its versatile, generous accommodation, this lovely 6-bedroom villa greets its guests with generosity, individual approach and homey ambience. Perfectly designed to welcome large groups of family and friends, it benefits from cozy shared spaces offering at the same time independence and privacy when needed.
The property consists of a main house with two independent apartments and two guesthouses. From a cozy, spacious covered outdoor patio furnished with a wooden sofa, a small table and a couple of chairs, the entrance of the main house's ground level apartment leads into a large living room, with light wood-beamed ceilings, polished creamy flooring with decorative in-laid lines of brick, sea views, a pair of French doors leading out onto the terraces, and rounded white walls that seem to have been made from fondant icing.
Furnished with three sofas set around a fireplace, the living area flows through a wide arch into an equally large dining area served by a light, well-fitted kitchen whose tailor-made cabinetry of vertical white wooden slats, like all the design elements mentioned above, are found throughout the property. A door opens out onto a shaded terrace equipped for al fresco dining.
Back in the living area, a small corridor to one side of the area with sofas leads to a guest WC and further on to the bedroom with double bed (160 × 200), sea views, French doors opening onto the terraces and an en-suite shower room with a hammam flair (common to all the bathrooms).
The first level apartment of the main house is accessed by external steps from the charming rear terraces. The entrance opens into a communal space with a kitchen area, a dining table, breathtaking sea views and access to a panoramic terrace. On both sides of this space you will find a bedroom, double (160 × 200) and a double-twin (90/180 × 200), each with its own en-suite shower room, sea views and access to the panoramic terrace.
The first guesthouse is situated on the other side of the main house's shady outdoor dining area. The entrance leads into a generous open-plan space comprising a kitchen-dining area and, and down a few steps, a lounge area with built-in L-shaped seating, a sofa, a corner fireplace, sea views and access to a shady terrace. Just off the dining area two bedrooms are placed, a double-twin (90/180 × 200) and a double (160 × 200), both featuring en-suite shower room and sea views. The first has access the front terrace, and the second opens onto its own terrace to the side of the house.
The second guesthouse is located a couple of minutes' walk from the main building and features a generous open-plan space with a double bed (160 × 200) with en-suite shower room on the upper level and a charmingly furnished living area with dining table and kitchen corner on the lower level.
Villa's generous interiors flow out onto equally spacious terraces that wrap around the property on all sides. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to sit, dine, chat, sunbathe, have fun and have a nap, and all rooms offer access to the terraces. On the sea-facing side of the main house, with access from the living area and the bedroom, you will find a vast shady sea-view area, furnished with a well-cushioned, built-in corner sofa.
Running along the front of the property, joining the main house to the first guesthouse's shady patio, is a large sun-drenched terrace below which, down just a few steps, is the pretty pool area. Here, apart from the pool (11 × 4,5), is a further shaded lounge area, separated by a stone wall with windows looking out to sea.
A wide arch in a stone wall between the main house and the first guesthouse joins the front terraces to the shaded area outside the main house kitchen. With its dining table and chairs, this is a cozy corner for breakfast, a mid-morning coffee or a light lunch.
Continuing on from here, another arch gives access to the rear terraces, which as stunning than those at the front. Up a few steps is the main outdoor dining area, which is completed with a wood-fired oven, a big built-in barbecue, a sink, and plenty of worktop space. Sheltered by stone walls and a cane-topped canopy, and boasting views out to the intense blue waters of the Aegean, this is the coziest place for cooking and enjoying long meals with your group.
At the far end of this rear terrace, a flight of steps ascends to a sheltered walled patio outside the main house's first level apartment. Decorated with a mature, shady pine tree with a hanging hammock, this terrace is a further reminder of just how versatile outdoor space is at your disposal.
The main house's first level apartment benefits from a gorgeous sea-view terrace, accessed from both bedrooms and the kitchen-dining space. To complete the picture, both guesthouses boast their own shaded and sunny terraces overlooking the sea.
The villa is located in the north of Antiparos, just a few minutes' drive from Antiparos Port, a traditional small Greek harbour town, with narrow pedestrian alleyways and scenic squares bordered by little shops and lovely white houses with blossom-filled courtyards.
At its centre you will find the remains of a Venetian castle built in 1440 to protect the island’s inhabitants from pirates and other possible invaders. Around the harbour a good range of traditional tavernas and cafés is gathered, and it is very nice to spend some time there, watching island life passing by. In the evening, the main square becomes lively as traditional coffee shops and chic bars fill up.
Antiparos’s comparatively small size grants that you’re never far from its treasures, both natural and man-made, and it’s easy to explore in a week. With 60km of coastline, it boasts an abundance of picturesque beaches and some of these are close to the villa, including Psaraliki, Glyfa, Sifneiko and Livadia. Slightly further afield, in the south, is Soros and the bay of Agios Georgios, whose turquoise waters are a perfect starting base for kayaking excursions to the little islet of Despotiko.
Typical of the Cyclades, the landscape of Antiparos is spotted with little whitewashed churches and traditional cottages, and covered with fragrant Mediterranean shrubs and wild herbs. The south of the island is hilly making it ideal for some rewarding walking, due to the beautiful 360-degree panoramas from vantage points such as the Prophet Elias church.
In the same area is the island’s exciting cave, whose exceptionally impressive stalactites and stalagmites are believed to be amongst the oldest in Europe. With a depth of around 85m (there are 411 steps down to the bottom), it is an amazing place to visit, especially if you think of all those who have been there before you, including Macedonian generals fleeing the wrath of Alexander the Great, Otto, the first King of Greece, and even (so it is said) Lord Byron.
Last but not least, Paros is just a 10-minute ferry ride from Antiparos Port, meaning that island-hopping day trips are highly possible.
