Located 40 minutes away from the center of Paris, this Château is one of the most extraordinary in France, classified as a historical monument since 1942 by the French government. Nestled on a 75ha woodland park, with two lakes, a marvellous cascade fountain, a glass house and orangery, not to mention the incredibly chic interiors, the mansion embodies grace, luxury and the famous French lifestyle.
Originally designed by architect François Mansart for the Count of Aufflay and later completed by his great-nephew, chief-architect of Louis XV, who also directed the construction of Château de Versailles at the same time. Likewise, the magnificent garden of the estate was designed by André Le Nôtre, who also designed the famous gardens of Château de Versailles. That's why, it has earned the name the Little Versailles. Historically, the 18th century is considered as its prime-of-life as its owners at the time, Sophie de Grouchy, a famous salon hostess, and her husband, Marquis de Condorcet, would invite the leading intellectuals such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine.
Nowadays, Château has been the getaway for many celebrities like John Travolta, Tom Cruise and Lenny Kravitz. It has been a source of inspiration for Dan Brown who wrote the “Da Vinci Code” while staying at the Chateau and was later used a filming location for its adaptation.
The main wing of the mansion offers 7 amazing suites, each designed individually by the well-known interior designer Jacques Garcia. The splendid interiors reflect the Louis XV era – furnished with the finest antique furniture and art objects. 7 double bedrooms with bathrooms are available in the annex at additional charge.
The collection of Chateau creates the ambience of 18th century France through a combination of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI pieces and is not unlike that of a museum. Each item is sourced from Sotheby’s or Christie’s and in some cases is of royal provenance.
Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Château, wander through the classical French garden, rowing and fishing in the lakes of the Château, throw a chic pool party outdoors, take horse riding lessons, taste the best of French cuisine with a private chef.
