World-famous as the embodiment of glamour with its fabulous parties, chic settings, exclusive characters, and post-card landscapes, la Côte d’Azur is a real paradise on earth. During the 19th century, this place appeared on the map with the arrival of affluent visitors who came to “spend winter” on the Riviera. These visits became a habit and gradually the towns and fishing villages in the area got used to the new inhabitants. Soon, towns such as Cannes, Nice, Menton, and Monaco were home to gorgeous villas, exciting casinos, and spectacular botanical gardens – and the famous French Riviera “lifestyle”.
Only 10 minutes drive from the Boulevard de la Croisette, where the early morning sounds of the Port are followed by the click of cameras, and Spring’s gentle light turns quickly into the evening glow of the silver screen. The château is situated above the historic ‘Quartier Anglais’, to the east of the city, established in the early 19th century by such people as Lord Henry Brougham, General John Taylor, and the Rothschilds. On the top of the Croix-des-Gardes Hill, where old look-outs once guarded the port below, is a private estate with a stunning castle at its heart, which recently claimed back its former position and prestige as one of the most desirable addresses in the area.
