This ancient farmhouse, originally built in 1870, has been carefully renovated to convert it into a cozy home chalet that offers modern comfort but has at the same time retained its authentic features to preserve a feeling of mountain life as it once was. Everything has been done to create a homey ambiance that offers the guests a true sense of hospitality, staying in the mountains, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, surrounded by the calming serenity of nature at high altitudes.
It is one of the rare comfortable houses for rent in this part of the Dolomites, allowing you to spend winter or summer holidays with a large group. By renovating this spacious farmhouse, the owners managed to design an imposing alpine home with an exceptional combination of excellent craftsmanship and high-quality materials. Respecting the original ambiance, they created an elegant mix of a traditional feel with a contemporary interior décor and modern amenities.
Rich fabrics and charming furnishings go hand in hand with aged woods, natural stone, and authentic wooden finishing. The result is a cozy and refined property, in which contemporary technology meets the traditional art of living in the mountains. The panoramic view is stunning and spreads from the Sella massive, to the Marmolada glacier and the Civetta mountain range, the house being located between several mountain tops.
The chalet spreads over 520 sqm of living space on the top three levels and includes a cellar over the entire chalet size (an extra 200 sqm). A fabulous, double-height open-plan living space has been designed over the top two levels, adorned with old retained beams and partially exposing the authentic stone walls. The generous lounge with comfy sofas and a huge fireplace adjoins the dining area and a high-end, fully equipped kitchen with a large island, where everything needed for cooking in style can be found (including American refrigerator, La Cornue stove, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, Solis coffee machine). The cellar is home to a wine cellar, a ski room, and several other rooms, all connected to a central area with a lovely vaulted ceiling.
The chalet comprises 4 spacious main bedrooms, two of which feature original Stube ovens, all tastefully finished with old wood. There are two smaller single bedrooms, connected to those with Stubes. Finally, there is an additional sleeping room with a charming bunk bed for 4 kids. The chalet has 3 bathrooms with a walk-in shower, one of which also offers a bathtub. A mezzanine spreading over the entire width of the house features an extra lounge space with panoramic views over the valley and a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and separate toilet.
Outside, the house is surrounded by several balconies enjoying the sunlight during the day. A south-facing garden with terraces surrounding the house provides plenty of space and garden furniture to enjoy alfresco living during the warmer seasons. It benefits from a serene panoramic view overlooking a majestic mountain backdrop, changing its colors during the seasons.
In wintertime the chalet makes a great base for exceptional skiing and other winter sports opportunities, being surrounded by numerous ski areas offering together 1200 km of ski slopes in the picturesque Dolomites. It is located only an 8-minute drive from the Sella Ronda area, a world-famous ski tour connecting 4 valleys in the Dolomites (Unesco heritage). Although within walking distance from a small village (Pieve di Livinallongo), where all necessary shopping can be done, it is nestled in a quiet area that grants privacy. It is also only a short drive to Cortina d’ Ampezzo and the many other interconnected ski areas in the Dolomites. The house boasts views over the Civetta mountain on the other side of the valley and a stunning panorama on the mountaintop of the Marmolada glacier and the Sella massive.
During summer the mountains offer numerous opportunities to enjoy their beauty such as hiking, mountain climbing, cycling, paragliding and even swimming in the many mountain lakes. The large expanse of the Dolomites grants tranquillity and peaceful pleasure of its pristine flora and fauna seen in the generous alpine meadows. In contrast, the magnificent mountain peaks rise high above the clouds altering their colors during the day. Perhaps autumn is even the most wonderful season with its diverse palette rising from the early morning mist and the fresh mountain air that announces the approaching winter.
A true alpine getaway in the heart of the Dolomites, the chalet is found in a small quiet hamlet in the Salesei di Sopra area, with breathtaking mountain views and just an 11-minute drive (8km) from the ski resort of Arabba. The Arabba-Marmolada ski area and Arabba, one of the main ski resorts on the Sella Ronda ski circuit, give you access to over 500 km of connected ski slopes in the Dolomiti Superski Area. In the village, guests can find ski hire services, attend local ski schools, and visit its shops and restaurants.
You will find other ski areas in a convenient driving distance for those wishing to explore further. Alleghe village offers a smaller, family-friendly area on the Civetta Mountain. To the North, the Lagazuoi ski area is located. A 19-minute drive will take you to the Lagazuoi cable car, which offers access to the Cinque Torre ski area of Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The closest village is Pieve Di Livinallongo, a 15-minute walk or 1 minute in the car from the chalet, where you can buy some essentials and find a couple of restaurants and further shops.
