DLA 0546 is nestled in the very center of the village square in Montriond which is part of the Morzine ski resort. The village itself offers a few shops, two bars, and a restaurant. It is a short drive into the center of Morzine with a vast choice of shopping and dining options. The skiing is most easily reached by the Ardent lift, just a 10-minute drive away, which provides access right into the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. On your way, you will also pass the scenic Lac de Montriond where you can ice dive in the winter or bathe in summer. Furthermore, you can also use the nearest ski lift in Morzine center, the Super Morzine.
An amazing residence in the mountains, a unique home. DLA 0546 harmoniously combines all traditional ski chalet features with the exceptional design inspiration of a grand mansion from a bygone era. Lavish but incredibly tasteful throughout, there are 8+1 large en-suite bedrooms, a fantastic spa, and the most stunning living space located on the top level under the beautiful exposed timber roof.
The project was directed by locally famous architect Herve Marullaz of Marullaz Architects in collaboration with Kyles Garrett of Shep & Kyles Design. The renovation project started in the summer of 2017. The property facade was restored to harmonize with its 18th-century origins. The chalet had originally been designed by an Italian architect during the reign of Louis XV. A key point of inspiration was the Juliet balcony which was carefully refurbished and accesses a truly relaxing and chic French boudoir that now joins two of the bedrooms. The authentic timbers were preserved wherever possible with local artisans naturally incorporating them into the new structure.
The top level is a generous open-plan space that immediately leaves you breathless. The space is divided into three distinct areas — the main living room space, the library, and the bar area. The living room is adorned with a large chandelier by Brand van Egmond and tailor-made chic sofas from William Yeoward which are set up to enjoy the lovely views of the Nantaux peak. Beyond the living area, the library offers a more private space with several cozy armchairs and a swing set by the first of two fireplaces. On the opposite side, the bar area is designed in a lounge style around the second fireplace. A full-sized pool table is designed for fun and another balcony offers a superb vantage point to relax and admire the views over the village square.
At the center of the house lies a delightful private spa with an L-shaped swimming pool as its focal point. The pool features a counter-current system, various massage zones, and two large fountains. The spa also features an indoor and outdoor hot tub as well as a large steam room decorated in mosaics. Lounge space, a rain shower, and fiber optic “night sky” lighting complete the space. From the spa a corridor leads to the split-level studio, perfect for pilates and yoga – where there is also a massage room where you can enjoy a range of Bamford treatments.
Bedrooms 1 and 2 on the same level have double/twin beds and an en-suite shower room with double sinks. Bedrooms 3 and 4 on the second level (double bed and en-suite shower room each) share a boudoir — one of the chalet’s most exceptional and magnificent spaces. The stunning boudoir is the ideal place to retreat from the rest of your group and enjoy a moment of privacy. It’s an incredibly cozy and chic space accentuated with comfortable seating upholstered in jewel-toned velvet. Two walls are adorned in rich Timorous Beasties wallpaper whilst a glass wall overlooking the central staircase ensures the room keeps a connection to the main chalet. Brass lighting and a marble console complete the overall aesthetic. Bedrooms 5 and 6 with double/twin beds, freestanding bath, and adjoining shower room are placed on the upper level.
Adjacent to the dining area is a floating wine cellar. The glass floor reveals the swimming pool below and bar stools also offer a view down the grand staircase to the front door right up to the apex of the roof at the top of the building. Besides the selection of the best wine to accompany your dinner, this is one of the most pleasant spots to enjoy an espresso with the fresh newspaper in the morning, observe the team preparing breakfast at the extraordinary professional kitchen and the other guests gathering around the dining table.
The kitchen consists of 2 parts, a concealed professional space and a lovely front kitchen built around a tailor-made range commissioned from world-famous Italian manufacturer DeManincor.
