The villa is spread over two levels. The main entrance leads to the ground level, which houses communal spaces and one of the three bedrooms. Heading past a guest bathroom with shower, you access the double-sized living area, which is separated into two parts: to one side, framed by sea-view glass doors leading out onto a terrace, is a large cubic fireplace and a built-in living area. To the right is a TV lounge with a large, well-cushioned built-in day bed and a wall of glass doors boasting more sea views and terrace access.
These living areas represent a scheme for the interior design of most of the property. Its angular forms are designed in a white and anthracite grey palette and softened by vivid colors of patterned fabrics from the Middle East and Central Asia. Chinoiserie lamps and posters from the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées add to the enchanting design, and the ambience is inspiring, inviting, and peaceful at the same time. Behind the main part of the living area are a dining table and the well-equipped, hi-end kitchen, which blends concrete counter space and storage, stainless steel details, and, surprisingly, a wood-fired oven.
Entered from a hallway near the kitchen is the first bedroom, a double (180 × 200) with sea views, an en-suite shower room, and access to an outdoor lounge area that makes up part of the terraces running along the front of the property. Stairs lead up from the hallway outside the kitchen to the first level housing the further two bedrooms. The master double room (180 × 200) is spacious yet cozy with a massive fireplace, stunning sea views, a large en-suite shower room, a walk-in wardrobe, and glass doors accessing both front and back private terraces. The last double (180 × 200), also with lovely sea views, an amazingly panoramic terrace, and an en-suite shower room behind a semi-partition wall.
The outdoor areas benefit from the exceptional views, which include a vast panorama across the Ionian Sea, the dramatic cliffs of Kefalonia's west coast, and the picturesque beach of Myrtos far down below. Just outside the living area is a shady terrace equipped with a dining table and a pair of lounge chairs. A few steps below, just outside the ground level bedroom, is a lounge area with built-in cushioned sofas overlooking Myrtos beach. A few more steps down is the most spacious terrace, furnished with a pair of large built-in sofas, and a few easy chairs surrounding a firepit.
Next comes the gorgeously set plunge pool, whose exterior ziggurat form is inverted inside, offering a series of shelves for different levels of submersion. The pool measuring 3m x 3m offers space for everyone and the views from here are possibly at their best. Both first level bedrooms enjoy private sea-view terraces. The master bedroom also accesses a spacious terrace to the rear of the property, from where steps lead up to the roof. The 360-degree views from here are fantastic. Last but not least, stone paths and steps meander around both sides of the property and down below the pool and there are several secret lounge areas to discover, some shaded by trees, others sun-flooded, all amazingly panoramic.
The villa boasts a dramatic, cliff-top setting overlooking the sea and the famous beach of Myrtos on Kefalonia's northwest coast. Myrtos beach is a 10-minute drive and there are other options nearby, including at Asos and Aspros Gialos, both of which are less than 15 minutes away.
Asos village is a lovely spot to spend a few hours and its small harbor offers some tavernas, bars, and shops, and you can hire boats there. The hilly promontory that extends out into the sea above the village is a superb place for hiking, and walkers are rewarded not only with exceptional views but also the evocative ruins of a Venetian castle.
About 30 minutes northwest is the charming and bright harbour village of Fiskardo, which is worth a visit. A bit further afield, heading south, is Kefalonia's capital, Argostoli, home to a lively pedestrianised centre with tavernas, cafés shops, a market, and a pair of museums (one dedicated to the island's archaeology, the other to folklore).
Kefalonia is the biggest of the Ionian Islands but still easy to discover in a week - the northernmost tip, the national park and towering mountain of Ainos Oros in the south, and the Paliki peninsular to the west of Argostoli are never more than an hour away. Just 4km east of Kefalonia is the island of Ithaca and it's easy to spend a day there due to the frequent crossings from the port of Sami.
